Has any one tried to use woven ceramic fiber gasket? This is a product born from the space programs, and is rated to 1400 deg F. Here is a link to the product sold by McMaster-Carr. I use this material to gasket access doors on boilers and ovens.

  • no but im interested. whats the temp rating of the high heat egg gasket (the white one)?

Yes, folks have used ceramic gaskets successfully.  Here's some info.

should be fine.  I put a rutland on 2 months ago.  is it adhesive backed?  on the spec sheet the rated the adhesive at 300* F which would be a problem quick.  a tube of copper permatex will fix that and its like $8 at an auto parts store.
