Smoking Deer Hind Quarter

As I'm sitting here listening to the rain during opening weekend of early muzzleloader season, I'm dreaming of a way to smoke a deer hind quarter. I'd like to do this like a pork shoulder and do pulled venison. I'll season it just like i normally do a pork shoulder, but I'm worried about drying it out with the venison being so lean. Just curious if anyone has done this before? I'm thinking since the venison is so lean that I may have to either cover it with bacon or beef fat from the locker. What's your guys opinions?

I dont think it will pull but it should still be good. Smoked deer ham is one of my favorites.
Be careful, man! I've got a beverage here.

140-150. You want to keep it kinda rare or it will be too dry and tough.
