    @ Lizzie-I would bring the wayward dome thermo to your local dealer and ask (demand?) a replacement.  Dealers sell those as stand-alone items.  You have only had that BGE for a short-time-that's the one thermo BGE provides for the Egg to do it's thing.  They should replace it.
