beer soak cedar plank

i was reading in a mag. that a guy soaks his cedar planks in beer instead of just water before cooking on them. Has anyone tried this ? if so can you tell the difference ?

    I've never tried it but anything with beer is better :D I'll try it next time!

    "Westvleteren Abdij Saint Sixtus Belgian Trappist Beer infused red cedar wild pacific planked salmon with corn on the cob"

    I would call that alcohol abuse.... Thats just burning off good beer.
