Morning All:

I am
saddened to say that the BBQ world lost another great guy on Thursday, July 12
th.  Ken was born in Denver, Colorado and lived
there most of his life until moving to Florida in 2004.  His vocation was
educator as he taught remedial reading on several Indian reservations and was
employed in the reading lab of Brevard Community College at the time of his
passing.  However, his passion was BBQ.  He traveled the competition
BBQ circuit where he was known as “Bluesmoke” and created his own line of rubs
and sauces.  He was best known for his Big Chief sauce and Golden
Splinters rub, both being Scovie award winners.   A bottle of his sauce
sits on the shelf of the famous BBQ joint, Boss Hogg's.  Ken attended the
first Florida Eggfest in October 2003 and was a regular at that annual event as
well as Eggtoberfest in Atlanta.
Additionally he did many demo cooks for local BGE dealers.  He and Diana, his lady of eight years, ask
that you fire up your BGE this weekend, make some awesome BBQ, have a cold one
and watch the blue smoke rise from your cooker to celebrate his life and his
love of BBQ.  He is also survived by his 3 BGE - Ms. Egg, Lenny and
Eggbert.  Diana can be contacted at  poqal @ bellsouth dot net<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Have a GREAT day!

Sounds like he left quite a BBQ legacy and made a significant impact while he was with us. Cheers to "Bluesmoke".

+1, RIP Ken. I am sure he is up there with the XXXXXXXXXL Eggs, brisket meat that melts in your mouth, pork shoulders and are savory, and bikini honey's surrounding.
