Ok so I got my WiFi BBQ Guru in the mail today. Hooked it all up and I'm currently cooking bacon wrapped chicken thighs (stuffed with goat cheese, basil pesto, and sun dried tomatoes)
Here's my rundown:
I'm cooking indirect. Platesetter in, feet up. Desired pit temp is 400. I have the guru set at 400. I had some week old lump in, churned it up, lit in one spot in the middle. Didnt add any new lump, or clear ash (two cooks ago I did) The damper is open on the pit viper, and the daisy wheel is open a half inch. The pit temp probe is clipped in the very middle of the grate.
My issue is that I'm having a difficult time getting up to temp. I'm at 367 right now, and I've been running the unit live for over 30 minutes. The viper runs for awhile, then pulses. It seems to me that since I've not yet reach the desired temp, the fan should run constantly.
Could this be an issue with my setup? Maybe it's because I didn't clean out the ash tray, or add new lump before the cook?
