Do I need a new gasket

I just used my XL for the 4th time. Have not done any high temp cooking. Cooked hot dogs first night, burgers and kabobs the second night, ribs the third night, and a turkey today. All under 400. At end of turkey cook, gasket is slightly loose in one place upper and lower. Once it cooled down it was sticking to egg again and not loose. Only used four times, in first four days, do I need to worry or is this not that big of a deal?

You will burn your gasket up soon. Just a matter of time. I never replaced mine but seems like most people do. Nothing to worry about.

If it really bugs you, call and they will send you a replacement. I'd wait for it to get a little worse if it was mine.

Best advise on the forum to follow: FORGET ALL ABOUT YOUR GASKET!! Pretend it never was there. Cook your food like normal and enjoy your new egg. Don't replace and never think about it again.

Depends on your defiition of "need".

You can have a gasket for less than ten bucks installed, if from BGE or purchase your own like Rutland. They do make a difference in more ways than one. I'm not saying you need one but it is a difference maker.

it was designed to have one. So in my opinion one belongs on there. It cushions the lid when it closes too fast. And it makes it more air tight. They can be run without one, but as I said, were designed to be used with one.
