Correct accessory application? (pic)

edited March 2012 in EggHead Forum
I recently bought a bunch of XL accessories on Craigslist. The below rack was included, but I'm not too sure I understand the correct application. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It appears to be an adjustable rig with a half stone so that you can cook direct on one half and indirect on the stone half.
  • think mimauler has it right...if you dont have a need for it let me know :)

So do I need to get a half stone to make it work correctly? I should have added that the black pan underneath the grid is removable.

I use one of those to grill peppers indirect, and then remove it to do a direct cook of meat.

I believe it's a BGE Brand Half Moon w/ Drip Pan

Look on page 13 of the catalogue:

From what I remember, I think i've seen it placed directly on the grid.  I'm sure you could put a half stone underneath on the grid.

Without the stone, you could do direct roasting such as veggies, chicken, baked potatoes, corn or even steaks after you sear em.

Just a hack that makes some $hitty BBQ....

you can get a half moon stone. or just use the drip pan as the deflector. i cook my steaks on it before i sear them.
