Bent carriage bolt

My egg has a bent carriage bolt on spring hinge mechanism - hood up or down to relieve pressure to replace
Ace says hood down up hood down makes sense to me please advise best practice

    I'm fairly certin that the two bolts in the back are supposed to be bent after u tighten down the two bands.
    Be careful, man! I've got a beverage here.

    Most definitely.  The bolts on the upper and lower bands or both suppose to be bent when tightened correctly.  Is that what you're asking?  That, and the proper procedure for adjusting the bands is to tie down the spring hinge with plastic wire wraps before loosening the bands...

    Supposed to tighten them and keep going so that they DO bend.
    No issues. Dont replace them

    The other posts are correct. As an alternative, someone came up with the idea of using a spring of sorts will keep the bolot from bending. There is a YouTube video of the modification that looked pretty cool. Again, not necessary but something to consider. I can't locate the video now but maybe someone will post here.
