Two 9 lb butts, started at 2:00 sat afternoon, 220 dome temp, went well until about 4:00 am, temp dropped, fire out. Airflow holes were clogged, cleaned out and restarted at 5:00 am. Now dome at 260 butt at 176, how long to reach 200?

  • I cooked a 9 lb butt last weekend and it took a total of 17 hours for meat to hit 198.

  • It took 6+ hours for mine to go from 174 to 198.

No way to tell how much longer ... depends on how long the fire was out ... it appears you are doing the right thing. I too would just restart, but to guess when it will be done???

    anybody's guess .....

Temp now at 193, should I remove it at 195 or 200? I have seen both in the forum.
  • 195 minimum but some go to 200.  I split it in the middle

Took off at 198, held in cooler for two hours, excellent! Learned a lot on my first smoke, thanks for the help.
