Well I finally get a chance to use my XL BGE, have to cook 4 pork butts this weekend.
With the Large, I use a plate setter and a Large aluminum roast pan (16X11) and put the grate on top of that, everything fits perfect.

Cooking 4 butts on the XL I believe that will not be big enough, how do you guys set up for cooking many butts on the XL?

I use a large re-shaped aluminum throw-away pan you get at most grocery stores.. they may be rectangular, but can be re-shaped fairly easily to cover the acreage of the XL. Or, you can pick up one from the ceramicgrillstore.

  • I let my pork butt drip on the place setter. I don't think it hurts anything. I just clean it off into the lump afterwords and it burns up.
