Wow, what the heck happened to the forum, I leave the country for a month and we go all modern.

I just returned from almost a month in the Philippines and Japan and I see that we got a new forum site.  After spending so many weeks in Asia I was dying to cook some food on the egg.  I decided to do an old school pizza and garlic knot cook.  Came out great.  Here are some pics of my trip and the cook.

This is White Beach on Boracay Island in the Philippines.  Amazing beach.

After I worked at the embassy in Manila for two weeks I did a week long stopover in Tokyo to sight see.  This is the famous crossing in Shibuya.

Visited all the major shrines and Temples including the Emperor's palace.  Here is the iconic double bridge of the palace.

Grabbing noodles at a lunch counter in Shibuya with buddy of mine who flew in to meet me.  Man that was a good meal.

Hanging out in the observatry on the 45th floor of the Tokyo Government building.  What a view.

I've got a ton more pics, too many to put here.  Needles to say my trip to Asia was amazing.  The philippines was not my favorite place, but Tokyo just blew me away.  So much to see and do that its staggering.

Got home, gave the wife and boy a kiss and had to make some fresh mozzarella and basil pie on the XL.

Rounded out the meal with my homemade marinara sauce and baked garlic knots.

Great trip, but its good to be home.

I'll never forget our trip to Japan in the early '70s.  Lots of folks just stared at us because they had never seen a Westerner before, especially in small towns like Takayama.  I'm sure it's real common now.

Mudpig - looks like a GREAT trip!!  MY GF's from the Phillippines, and she'd LOVE to go back - maybe sometime soon!!

As far as the "modern" forum - don't worry, I'm sure you'll get an email or PM from one of the ppl in the clique begging you to come to the old forum...

Write what you want about the "other" forum but the mechanics of that operation work much better than this site. "Search" over there comes up with useful and topical posts-you can post a comment without software glitches like this place and it is much easier to use.
I don't have a dog in either site fight but just try to use the information that has been compiled over the years by those who own and use the BGE. This site is lacking in that regard and despite e-mails to the "mothership" to look into various software issues, nothing gets better.
Matter of fact, to post this comment will require me to scroll half-way to China to get to the "post" tab. And i'm on a desktop machine running IE-8.

The best thing is how tweev quoted me above before the post even happened. This site crashed my Internet explorer when I hit post so I had to end task and come back into the site.

I consider this the official and the original site....it has just been upgrade to new software.  I mean, this domain is still eggheadforum.com and searches return results from years back...and yes, search will return meaningful results.  The other site has broken off is all.

I just measured and it's 4 inches down. I couldn't possibly scroll that far on a regular basis.

IE 9 and FF 5 on a Win 7 machine and Safari and FF on my Mac all have the post button in the appropriate place...appx 1" below comment window.

@Lit - hmmm, I've had a post removed from the other forum, even though it was
very similar in nature to another person's post & I did not violate
any of the rules or TOU. 



When I asked why my post got moved (then eventually deleted) while the
other person's post was allowed to stay, I was basically told "because I said so" and was told that they could do whatever they wanted
& they had the right to enforce the rules on some ppl, but not
others because they were "benevolent dictators"...



So, my point is, it's all relative - if you think "this place sucks,"
then you have the FREEDOM to move on - but a word of advice - if you think you can go over there & post a response like "this place sucks" or otherwise say ANYTHING EVEN REMOTELY considered negative toward the forum, you will offend those who think of that forum as their first born,  and therefore, YOU'LL BE SORRRRRRRRRY

@Lit - also, which of your posts have been removed?  If they were posts which gave the address for the other forum, then they SHOULD be removed.  (as any posts on the other forum advertising this forum should be removed as well). 

You don't actually think you can freely advertise for one forum on the other, do you?

I checked the other forum and he hasn't posted over there either on this thread.  I think he has just been busy or hasn't noticed.
