My daisy wheel is full of soot and crud from years of use. What's the best way to get this stuff off? Oven cleaner, ammonia soak?[p]Thanks for any input,[p]Mark G

Mark G,[p]You could try putting it in an oven during the self clean cycle....

    Mark G,
Put it in your egg after the T-Rex of a steak ... 500 for 15 minutes and everything should be dry and crunchy.[p]Doug

Mark G,[p]take Smoked Signals tip and let it burn off, if you have a wire brush and really good welding gloves you can snag it out after it has burned off the nasties, give it a quick brushing and put back in the egg. reseason with veg oil at a temp of around 350 for a couple hours or it will get rusty.

    Mark G,
while placing it in the coals and burning it off works, but that also burns off the paint and rust will be a new factor - and IMHO looks bad too. Been there - done that - and then repainted it. A better way is to submerse it overnight in household ammonia in a small pastic pail. It is best to cover it with Saran Wrap. In morning brush under running water. Use rubber gloves and don't breathe the amnonia. Dispose of amnonia in a safe manner - but if you're on a septic system do NOT pour it down the drain.
