Yes it is time. I had my MED. egg for over 2 years. The gasket has had it. I have research different type of gasket. But I like to here from other egger what they use and that works. I don't want to put all the time in that takes to change one and not work. Thanks for all and any help.

I just replaced the gasket on my Medium. I used the Nomex gasket from http://high-que.com/. It went on very easy as they have adhesive on the gasket, just peel away the paper as you go around the egg. They have videos on the site. Top and bottom only took me about 20 minutes (after cleaning).
Adjust the band properly also, Here is what mine looked like after adjustment.

I'll be looking forward to replacing my original felt gasket pretty soon here. Has anyone ever tried burning off the old gasket with a torch? Seems like it may help it come off easier. Don't think it would damage the egg, and it seems like scraping the burnt off felt and glue would be a little easier. Anyone?

I don't mind changing the gasket. What I mind is renovating the table every few years. Ugh.The Naked Whiz

Removing the gasket and adhesive should take about 20 to 30 minutes and is pretty simple.
I am still using the felt, works great and has lasted 4 years on my large. It needs replacing maybe this or next year.
I had problems with the felt gasket on my medium in the beginning but after some replacement parts and a good dome/base adjustment, no problems. Small has never been changed and mini has never been changed.
I am fine with the felt gaskets. I will be trying Nomex (Amarid) on my large at some point in time.

The self adhesive Cotronics(woven ceramic fiber)has worked fine for me.

Another vote for Rutland. Did anyone mention that you only have to do the base because of the thickness of the material??

Three eggs and NO gaskets........Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Plus a couple Pit Boss Pellet Smokers.

I went the Rutland applied with Permatex Ultra Copper route.
Followed the instructions on this site, but substituted the copper for the cement.

I agree! It will be a planter by the pool.

Some time ago on a post someone mentioned a tool that fits into a drill that does a very good job of cleaning off old gasket/sealer. Can anyone refresh me on what that was or the title of the thread?
TIA

jaydub58,
I used a paint and rust remover. See post here:

Rutland FLAT stove gasket material (Ace)secured with Permatex Copper adhesive (auto parts store). Be sure to "scrunch" the gasket material per instructions before cutting.

I used a gasket scraper. Any sears sells them for $10.

I used a 5/8" Rutland gasket and adhesive from ACE Hardware and followed the Naked Whiz instructions. Very simple if his directions are followed, especially the used of the paint stripper and pumice stone. Did not have to remove bands or lid. Be sure to use enough adhesive and push/spread gasket per his instructions. Took about an hour in total. Did not put gasket on lid. So far has worked perfectly. Good luck.
