Teachers Appreciation - 65lb of butt...

Hi All,

Got 65 Lbs of Pork Butt on the Egg right now. It is for all the teachers appreciation luncheon at East Cobb Middle School in Marietta, GA tomorrow. I have to work so my wife will be pulling and serving.

This is the second year I've done this... What a job, spent half the day today getting ready (making rub, fixing my stoker, etc...), enjoying a nice beer right now.

    I raise my kids, cook and golf.  When work gets in the way I'm pissed, I'm pissed off 48 weeks a year.
    Inbetween Iowa and Colorado, not close to anything remotely entertaining outside of football season.

  • As a teacher, I just want to say thank you for thinking of us! What a wonderful way for you to show your kids' teachers how much you appreciate the work that they do!

  • Thanks - it is working out!! I wish I could can and sell the smell of that much pork butt cooking in the backyard.. Just pulled the first 2 of 8 Butts....Got 6 more cooking!!!

    Hey Jerry,

    Quick question for ya. What type of grill extender do you have on both eggs? It does not look like the grill extender or 3 tier from BiggEgg. I'm new to the forums and just got my first egg this past weekend. My first cook was a butt that turned out wonderful. Now I'm taking on 25#'s of butt this weekend on my large egg.

    I beleive he has the Adjustable Rig from the ceramic grill store. ;)
  • Yep I used an adjustable rig and a spider as well to hold a pizza stone for the indirect heat. Have the same setup for both eggs!!
