hey there, i'm looking for votes on what smoke to use for chicken wings :ohmy:

I use nothing but the lump, which gives them enough flavor.

I would agree with Fidel unless you are making a really sweet wing, then maybe some fruit wood or hickory to accent the sweet. Really it depends on the recipe but you really don't have to use flavored wood with wings unless you are serving them completely naked, in my opinion anywayI raise my kids, cook and golf. When work gets in the way I'm pissed, I'm pissed off 48 weeks a year.Inbetween Iowa and Colorado, not close to anything remotely entertaining outside of football season.

We tend to like a little more smoke flavor than some ... with wings I smoke them indirect for an hour with a spicy dry rub and use a mix of apple and hickory ... not a lot, but a little goes a long way ... after an hour the chips have burnt off, I remove the stone and put a char on the wings using direct.

I usually throw in a handful of whatever chips I have on hand....which is usually mesquite. Some people don't like mesquite, but its what the wife and I grew up with in South Texas.
