Wife just purchased a large egg on Saturday for my birthday this Friday!! When we took it out of the truck, we figured we may as well go ahead and get it set up. Which then led to..."maybe I should go ahead and have a short burn to burn off any possible chemicals". (of course I just wanted to play with my new toy) Unfortunately the joke is on me. I made a promise to myself I wouldn't cook on it until it was officially my birthday, and man, what a long week it's going to be.
I have spent the last few days reading ALOT of info on this site. Info on tables, recipes, tips,..it's a great site.
By the way I have decided to go with pork ribs for my birthday cook. Any suggestion on a good rub and any tips on preparation and cook time would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome! I think I can find you a loophole. You won't cook your "birthday meal" until your birthday. Go ahead and cook some burgers or something simple before then. Get a little practice lighting and controlling temp. It will make the birthday cook more enjoyable .Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.
-
i would light it and practice drinking beer and holding 250 dome temp when you get those two things down, your ready for a rib cook :laugh:fukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it
-
Welcome!I agree with some of the others, practice with holding temps and try a simple cook so you'll have more confidence. The folks on this forum are some of the best people who are just having a good time and will go out of their way to be helpful Congrats, Randy(p.s. HBD)
