My orginal steel damper has finally rusted away, but the screws attaching it to the egg are resisting being removed. What have you all used to remove these screws! I know that when I replace the damper I will need to use sime silicon around the mounting holes and around the edge of the damper. Thnks everyone

If you don't need to use the existing holes, I would get an inexpensive tool to fit your drill and just grind them flush to the Egg shell. A little JB Weld will smooth it over, but the new assembly will probably cover it anyway.

Well, we're assuming you have everything pulled out of the egg and the nut is just spinning. A Dremel tool will easily take the screw off from the inside or out.

right - those are bolts with nuts - not screws.Re-gasketing America one yard at a time.
