Has anyone found a wok that can be used on the mini?

The Wok Shop, in San Fran's Chinatown, sells exactly what you need...stainless steel woks in 8 inch, 9 inch, and 9.5 inch sizes. Dunno what size you'd need, it depends on your configuration. Here's the link: http://www.wokshop.com/HTML/products/woks/woks_mini.html

Don't you just love it when you can ask such a question and get an answer just like that?
Be sure to post your first Mini Wok try. I'll add it to the Mini Egg Movie II.
See you in Salado

Tammie:
I just measured the inside diameter of the fire ring and it's about 8-3/4". The wok diameter below its handles is hard to figure out, but it is much smaller than the top diameter.
It won't help to take the fire ring out and just use the fire bowl because the handles will catch on the sides, I think.
So I'm thinking the largest 9" size is best: the bottom is close enough to the fire, and the handles are hopefully high enough to grab onto.
What do you think?Judy in San Diego -
I have an 8" stainless steel wok that fits perfectly in my mini. It's 8-3/16" wide at the top of the bowl and 9-5/8" at the outside edges of the handles. I purchased it from FoodServiceWarehouse.com
http://www.foodservicewarehouse.com/thunder-group/slwk008/p365197.aspx
Dropped directly onto the fire ring (cooking grid out), there's about a 3/8" gap all the way around the wok, and it sits on it solidly by the handles. With my Mini Woo in place, there's more room for airflow around it, but it likes to slide around on the lower supports, so you have to have one hand free, to hold it still while you move your food around in the wok.
I don't think anything bigger would fit.
Here's a picture of it in my mini, without the Mini Woo...

Tammie,
I saw a small wok at TJ Max on I35 near Burleson last week. Don't know if it would work for you. I think it had a handle that would screw off. -
That's a good idea.
-
I might head down I35 today then.
Johnny did you win the mini in Plano last year?
Are you going to Salado? It's going to be a blast! -
Something healthier than Krispie Kreme (although those are coming too)!

I'll have to check that out also. Thanks for the info!

I didn't have time to check them out yesterday, but I will today. Do you have one for the mini and did you choose the 8 or 9 inch?
-
Tammie, I'm a newbie here. I've just got a large and an appetite to learn all I can. I always look at the stores to see what is available.
I am going to Salado and will stay at the Holiday Inn Express. Couldn't find a room for a while but Mickey talked with me and told me who to call. My wife and I will be there on the 25th. Hope to see and meet you there. -
Tammie:
I did a little research today (Sunday) and talked to a very knowledgeable lady at The Wok Shop. I looked at BJ's recommendation and saw it was 20 gauge steel, which is very thin metal. The Wok Shop didn't say what the steel gauge was for the mini woks, so I called and found out that they are very thin and only used for caterers to present food, not for cooking...probably 20 gauge as well. She even forbade me to get them for cooking, and she knows all about Eggs!
She said the carbon steel is 14 gauge and much heavier (the lower the number, the thicker the metal), and there is a 9.5" with a wooden handle and a 10" with loop handles. The cover that comes with it is optional, and you can save $5 by not getting it.Judy in San Diego
