I would have to say the Dixie Chicks.

"America The Beautiful" performed by Ray Charles (2001)

He did "America The Beautiful" better than anyone has done "The Star-Spangled Banner." There used to be a little ten year old girl in Oakland Park, FL. (Fort Lauderdale) that sang the national anthem at Little League games better then most pro's at the super bowl. She was amazing, the windows in the backside of my apartment looked out over the athletic fields and I got to hear her many times. :)

    There is a list HERE.

Like the call on The Dixie Chicks!

I was at last year's game....thought Carrie Underwood did a nice job.

I didn't even pay attention to who is performing this year, not before or at halftime. I have a feeling I don't care for whoever the halftime act is this year (recall hearing something hip-hopish).

Will be tough to beat my favorites Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers and The Who from recent Super Bowls.

Don't get me started on that Springsteen half-time.

Right. No soul, no country twang, no hip hop. I know it's difficult and doesn't make much sense (another debate), but we do need the respect to represent our country.

Martina McBride did a great job, too, at the AFC game.
  • He's good, but he ain't Wayne Messmer.
  • If you don't like Ray Charles's America the Beautiful, you just ain't American. The Chicks did an awesome Anthem, too.
