First off, thanks to everyone for the replies on getting my frozen egg open. It took half of the Sunday Columbus news to do it but I got the lump started.
30 minutes later I lift the lid!!! Oh Joy!! :P My egg that had 8 inches of snow and ice on it and hasn't been used in a month is open!!! So, In my excitement I see my cast iron top, I couldn't wait to get my hands on it!! BIG mistake, that SOB is HOT! So i proceed to drop it on my pretty ceramic tile I have on my table, which is now in 10 pieces. Here I sit with an Icepack on my 3 fingers I burned. Hey, on the bright side my egg is lit and we will be having "The Chicken for dinner tonight. :P

Glad the egg is open, but seems to me you are not starting out so good... Hope the day gets better. Take Care.

Ouch! I've done the same thing and know it burns like a "B"...I can honestly say, that is a lesson learned and I've only done it once! Hope your chicken was fabulous.

LD, ouch that hurts, hope The Chicken made up for it. Not sure if cracking the tile is as bad as landing the HOT plate setter on the brand new gasket :( , guess how I know

That would be funny if I didn't do similar things all the time. I am a danger to myself most days.

Ouch! and some broken tile - shoot.
But!! Now you have an eggcellent story to tell, right? I figure accidents like this are sort of cool, your equipment builds "character" and you have a story to tell!
Kinda like talking about scars and tattoos, ya know?
