This Lodge drop biscuit maker was on my Christmas list. Santa was good to me.
Finally decided to put it in use. First I smoked a fattie.
Next I made some drop biscuits
Combined the two. The biscuits were a little crumbly but tasted terrific. Man were these good!

OK sorry but what is a fattie??
-
Ibboat,
A fattie is just a big sausage roll. There are many variations, but I think most people use a couple of packs of Jimmy Dean sausage that comes in the 1 lb logs. Flatten it out, roll it up, and smoke a fattie!Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg. -
Why flatten it out first? Can you just cut the wrapper off and cook it?
-
sophie, Yes you can just cook it but some like to add things to it and make it bigger. I like to make my own ground sausage from trimmings off the spare ribs when I trim them St. Louis style. I grind up the boneless trimmings and make my own seasons and mold it into a loaf. Then I wrap it in bacon and smoke it in my egg.
Look here at this past post. Tim
