I am currently retired from showing my dogs for thirty years. Breed and obedience. I'm in Western Pennsylvania. Where are you?

Hey, I have a friend who shows a Field Spainel, Tessa. She is currently #2 **** in the country and going to Westminster in Feb hoping to get #1 spot. I'm going also. She is currently tied for #3 for field Spaniels in the country. She was just here in Long Beach when I got a chance to see her after 38 years, she was my high school sweetheart, what a kick to see her. So this was my first at dog shows. Anyways was just checking around to see if anybody had it working also.

if i were to have a show dog it would be a spaniel, no reason to raise the dog just for show and breed out the field qualities. spaniels need to win field AND show

Westminster is hell. Going with a dog is double hell. My handler and dog went separately from me. My Otterhound was a Wminster breed winner. A great thrill but once is enough. Enjoy New York. I love Ellis Island, but that is actually in NJ. Remind me before you leave what the dog's name is. The only high ranked Fields I know are in GA, or at least from GA.

You haven't seen the field bred Brittanies. Or,they WERE spaniels, but changed to Brits because of their versatility. Irish Water Spaniels have triple titles. Field, Breed and Obedience. Now more with agility and tracking. They are multi purpose dogs. I do love the sporting group.

im partial to brits but i do like most of the spanial breeds cept maybe the cockers

Brits are good tempered hearty dogs. But American cockers are very different. Ever hear of spaniel rage? It is prevalent in Am. Cockers and Springers. Like a seizure, they go into a wild rage then snap out of it as if it never happened. Lots of articles if you Gooogle. It does not happen with English Cockers who are really delightful.

well that explains it, always thought it was the owners   would have put springers on that list with the cockers but for different reasons, my brit plays for a couple minutes, then likes to work, springers always seem to want to play. wonder if it was overbreeding that causes the rage

Beautiful dogs. I love the red meryl color. Some Aussies can have vicious temperaments.

That's what she has.A red one.

In other breeds, red meryl is disqualified, but allowed in Aussies. Striking look.

Very nice red. Great angulation. The Dobe ring is very competitive. Good luck.

Soon you will know every character in BiS. The family who spends their last dollar, deep in debt, the person who has fun showing his one dog, the folks who sleep around and all the gender benders. You'll know every single one of them. It was hilarious.

Did you get your RV yet? camping and parties are rampant. I partied with my Smokey Joe. I wonder how many BGEs are there.

Not yet, but now we have two reasons - tailgating and dog shows!

    And eggfests.
I loved camping at shows. You wake up THERE. You are rested, dog is rested, and "at home". ALl the conveniences. All I did was take out the dirty clothes and repack the food. Wonderful. Good luck with your Dobe. Enjoy your wins. It's like dope. One purple ribbon and you want more.
